ABOUT

The St. Felix friary was built in 1928, and was named after St. Felix of Cantalice, Italy, a Capuchin priest who lived from 1515 to 1587 and was known for his love of nature and prayers for healing of the sick. The friary had many priests in formation over the years as well as famous residents, including Fr. Benedict Groeschel, CFR and Fr. Solanus Casey. Venerable Solanus Casey came from Detroit to escape the throngs of people who asked for his intercession. They followed him and he was often seen praying with them and over them. Many miracles were reported.

The Capuchins sold the friary in 1978. The property was purchased by the estate of Mr. John V. Tippmann, Sr. and they completed many improvements to restore the friary and then donated it back to the Catholic Church.

The St. Felix Catholic Center has over 30 acres of land. The friary offers a retreat from our modern, hectic world. Its simple rooms, monastic style chapels and classic Capuchin refectory (dining room) allows a person an immediate experience of peace, serenity, and sense of the presence of God.

The back woods trails connect to the Victory Noll Nature Reserve which allows for even more natural beauty.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Your room, six meals, and retreat materials are included in the early bird price of $250 per person ($300 after June 15th). Rooms are simple Franciscan ‘cells’, single occupancy only, with a twin bed, nightstand, and desk/lamp. There is  no air conditioning in the bedrooms but other areas are air conditioned. There are 70 single rooms available. Guests should bring their own towels, alarm clocks, and toiletries. Bathrooms are communal (Men’s and Women’s designated)  so bring flip-flops.

Bedrooms are on three floors. If you need a first floor room, please let us know in the registration form below.

MEALS

Meals will be served cafeteria style. Foods will be simple and nutritious which should serve for any food plan. If you have specific food allergies, please note this on the registration form below. There will be Friday evening dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sunday morning breakfast and lunch.
